Organisational factors to improve accessibility

The ICS in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design at the National Disability Authority is offering a series of information and training webinars, to help public bodies and other organisations understand how small decisions have an impact on disabled peoples’ access to websites and mobile apps. Everyone has a part to play, from project managers to web developers, from internal staff to external web agencies.

In his PhD study, Eric Velleman shows that organisational factors (such as management involvement, knowledge and awareness, monitoring, etc.) play a key role in improving the accessibility of websites and apps. He will walk you through his findings in an interactive way. We can no longer leave web accessibility to the editors and developers alone. Who else should be involved? What can persons in different roles in the organisation do to succesfully implement digital accessibility standards?

Eric Velleman is professor of Inclusive Digital Design & Engineering at the HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. With his research group, he studies different aspects of digital accessibility from organisational factors and monitoring to the accessibility of next generation internet technologies and applications. He worked on accessibility standards, regulations and tools including WCAG-EM, etc. He also works as innovation expert for Bartimeus and as scientific advisor for the Accessibility Foundation.

Please note that this webinar will take place on the Zoom platform.
