Welcome to the HISI website

The past 30 years have seen Healthcare Informatics evolve from a narrow cross-disciplinary interest into a profession in its own right. The Health Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI) builds bridges between computer professionals interested in health care, and health care professionals interested in computing, while supporting and embracing the new professionals of health care informatics.

Established in 1996 and more than 700 members strong, HISI incorporates the Healthcare Informatics sections of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and of the Irish Computer Society, and has been accepted as a member both of the European Federation for Medical Informatics and the International Medical Informatics Association.
