The Health Informatics Training System (HITS) is a training and certification solution for all healthcare workers.
HITS is a response to the needs of healthcare employees who require a clear understanding of the technologies used in this sector and their contribution to administrative and clinical best practice.
HITS was developed by ICS Skills in partnership with the Health Informatics Society of Ireland and has received Category 1 Approval from An Bord Altranais.

Basic Concepts of Health Informatics covers topics ranging from data processing and electronic record keeping to decision-support systems and security. Future HITS levels are planned which will focus on specialist areas within health informatics.

HITS is a web delivered and assessed training and certification solution. It is designed to provide understanding and competence in the use of information and communications technology in healthcare, for those who participate in the healthcare delivery process at any level.
HITS Level 1 is targeted at all healthcare workers who require a basic understanding of their role of technology in the healthcare sector. The Level 1 syllabus outlines the hardware and technologies used in a healthcare environment, and covers topics ranging from data processing and electronic record keeping, to decision support systems and security.
HITS certification is awarded by ICS Skills.
